Lawyer

David Knoll is a sole practitioner with the firm Knoll & Co. Law Corporation in Surrey/White Rock. He has been a practicing lawyer in the area of Aboriginal law for over 30 years, with an emphasis in the last 23 years on claims preparation, submission and negotiations

He frequently writes and speaks on a broad range of First Nation matters from constitutional to family, Indian Act, administrative, education, hunting and fishing, and taxation issues.

As one of Canada's leading practitioners on Aboriginal issues, he has been approached for legal advice by Aboriginal organizations and band councils nationally and regionally. He has worked on land claim matters in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and New Brunswick, and has provided advice on a variety of issues to the FSIN, AFN and tribal councils in several provinces. He has been involved in the preparation of over 52 claims and the settlement of approximately 31, with several currently in preparation or in negotiation. He has represented several at the enquiry stage before the Indian Claims Commission and is currently preparing declarations for filing before the Specific Claims Tribunal.
